This is what Stalingrad looked like in 1942 and early 1943. In this battle, both the Red Army and the Wehrmacht completely changed their fighting methods. German tactics Initially, there was intensive bombardment of cities from the air and from land, but time showed that this was a mistake. In order to eliminate the artillery advantage, the Red Army came up to 10 meters below the German position. Imagine that you are stationed in one tenement house with your unit, and opposite the building, or sometimes even in the same building, there is an enemy who wants to kill you and survive just like you do. And when the city was completely destroyed, it served as an ideal training ground for all kinds of snipers and sharpshooters, razing the city by the Germans at that very moment turned out to be a gigantic mistake - no armored vehicles could enter or drive through Stalingrad, and on top of that, they could be everywhere. For the Red Army, this entire battle could be described as a rat battle. The Germans were unable to drive the Red Army out of Stalingrad, and in addition, the Red Army prepared a powerful counteroffensive under the code name Operation Uranus, which launched on November 19, 42, closing Stalingrad in a cauldron, completely destroying Hitler's dreams of a route to the Caucasus.
