I was always a dreamer and saw

I was always a dreamer and saw my work offering more to humanity. Some people call me the father of space travel or the father of rocket science and the American lunar program. My ultimate goal was a human mission to Mars. That in itself gave people hope to explore the unknown and see what lies up there. All my efforts were also recognized by experts in the aerospace engineering field. I made my way into NASA as a director in the newly formed Marshall Space Flight Center and as the chief architect of the Saturn V super heavy-lift launch vehicle. My innovative work on space architecture was rewarded when in 1975 I was inducted into the National Academy of Engineering and received the National Medal of Science.
